State of the Art 03
It's my own stupid fault for not updating for over 2 weeks but it seems that the entire world has changed yet again. Ok, maybe not the entire world but my little tech focused section of it definitely has.
Let's get cracking shall we?
A ray of light illuminates the dark fortress
Yes, you read that correctly. Apple has added a way for developers to track the progress of their apps during the approval process. It's a small change that should help to reduce the number of App-Store-limbo induced stomach ulcers affecting many of us developers out there.
Now, why have Apple done this? Competitive pressure from the new kid on the block (Android)? Or do they actually care about us developers in some way? It's a shame that I don't know the answer to that question.

Google's turn-by-turn navigation backported to the G1
I'm in the process of writing a post about Verizon's new Droid (It is old news already I know) so I won't go into detail here about how much of a potential game changer it is.However, one much touted Droid exclusive is the inclusion of Google's new Turn-by-Turn voice navigation system.
Well, it was exclusive for at least a week. Lifehacker has a post on how to get the new navigation system installed on your trusty G1 -- remember that guy?
Get downloadin' and installin' immediately!

Free 3D games for the Zune now available from Microsoft
A number of free games have been released by Microsoft for the Zune platform. They all look pretty cool and seem to display a single static Zune advert as the title loads.
The Zune's Tegra chip has no trouble the rendering smooth 3D graphics contained within most of the games so I am really looking forward to the day that Microsoft opens up the platform for general development.
The more choices the better, right?
